Urban Angels is owned by Karjan Vloon, a young Dutch woman who loves life and all the beautiful things it has to offer. From her teenage years, she travelled the world - taking in the very different sights, sounds and tastes that still influence her today. When the travelling stopped, she led a hectic life in Amsterdam and then London working in the banking sector. But her final deal was to trade this in for a tranquil life in the sun to bring up her two young boys - Malik and Ryder.
Karjan opened her first Urban Angels store in Ayamonte, Spain, in 2008. Her aim was to bring clothes from the heart of Europe's most stylish cities to the continent's most southerly coast.She travels regularly to leading fashion fairs in Amsterdam, London, Paris and Madrid to hand pick what makes up the Urban Angels range each season. With increasing demand for the brands she was bringing to southern Spain, Karjan was able to expand and open a new store in Tavira in Portugal in July 2011.
In keeping with her love of all that is around her, both shops have a light interior inspired by the nature of Andalucia's Costa de la Luz and the eastern Algarve. In Ayamonte, there is a beach theme - with sand, shells and the blue of the Atlantic ocean. On entering the store in Tavira, you might be reminded of a walk in the woods - clothes racks made from old trees and a white wooden floor.
Karjan is determined that shopping in either of her shops is a relaxed and friendly experience. And whether you speak German, French, English, Dutch, Spanish or Portuguese - she and her staff will help you to find the look you had in mind - and maybe even one that you didn't!
